When to Contact the District Office

District Executive
The activities of the District Executive and other district activities are coordinated from the District Office. The office is staffed by a part time Administrative Assistant. The office provides information services, clerical support, publicity for district events, and coordinates production of the district newsletters. Please feel free to call the office for information.

Please contact the District Executive, Lynn Thomas:

  • When your congregation is growing, your Board meetings are four hours long, and people are burning out.
  • When your congregation doesn’t have a mission statement or a strategic plan and seems “dead in the water.”
  • When your minister announces that she/he is leaving.
  • When your congregation needs some help in setting up a Personnel Committee.
  • When you think your Board would benefit by having an orientation session, training, and/or goal setting session.
  • When your religious education program needs some visioning work.
  • When you are considering hiring a part time staff person.
  • When your Committee on Ministry needs help clarifying their role.
  • When a conflict is brewing. [Call now, before it gets any worse!]
  • When you want to know more about hospitality and welcoming visitors.
  • When the congregation is anticipating some major change.
  • When you’re the new President and would like some help talking through a problem or challenge.
  • When someone in the congregation suggests that it might be nice to have a minister and you’ve never had one before.
  • When you, as a leader, think the congregation needs to change.
  • When your congregation is considering starting a campus ministry outreach.
  • When you think your organizational infrastructure may need improvement.
  • When your youth advisors need training.
  • When your congregation is considering cutting their pledge to the UUA’s Annual Program Fund or to the District.
  • When you’re trying to decide whether to hire a church member as a staff member.
  • When you want some help with ideas on how to run the annual canvass.
  • When you want to know how other congregations of your size are organized.
  • And, and, and….

In other words, your District Office and District Staff are there to be your “first call for help.” They are there to help you find the resources you need – they can provide them or refer you to others who can provide them.
